Career Technical Education course on career exploration including Self-assessment, Career Industry Sectors and Pathways, Career and College Readiness Standards, Occupations Exploration, Career Goal Establishment, and Job Search Skills. 18 topic course.

This is an introductory course designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the graphic communications field. Two general areas of study include creating graphics for printed products, and multimedia. Students learn design techniques and technical skills by working on projects that replicate common graphics products. These include such items as a corporate identity system (logo, letterhead, envelop, and business card), book cover design, computer game interface concept, technical illustration, kiosk design, and interactive digital adventure story. Printing and multimedia processes and systems are studied and their historical and artistic perspective related through these projects and other means. Through this curriculum, students gain a comprehensive view of today’s graphic communications occupational field and the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful.

 

A student resume and portfolio culminate the course.
